So some friends and i are interested in having an outdoorsy weekend somewhere in the Sierras probably in the summer. Problem is we have a wide range of experience/fitness levels and no one can agree one what they want to do.
We have some people who want to seriously hike or rock climb and camp. others who want to leisurely go for walks but not have to "rough it". Others who want to sit around a campfire and do basically nothing.
So i think the best plan to make everyone relatively happy is to rent a large cabin (there's probably at least 10 of us so we make the non-roughers happy) someplace convenient to some decent hiking/ climbing but would also have some easy walking trails and alternative options. Everyone can do their thing during the day. meet at the cabin at night and party.
Does anyone have any suggestions on someplace in the sierras with something for everyone? or at least a place with a lot of variety as far as difficulty levels with some cabins available in the area?

Re: Something for everyone...
Mon, March 19, 2007 - 5:50 PMDonner Lake/Pass area would be my choice, lots of rock climbing there and more trails and other activities to keep anyone busy. Lake Tahoe is 13 miles away which would be another good choice, I dont know much about the availability of cabins but look here-

Donner has a big, newly rentovated campground plus its right next to Truckee so you have access to stores and a bit of nightlife.
Although I am not very familiar with it, I hear there are many good places along highway 50 from Sac up to Tahoe, maybe someone else here knows thaqt area better than I- -

Mon, March 19, 2007 - 9:53 PMAs far as a place to stay, there's Camp Richardson near south shore.is located in a pretty area. The cabins aren't luxury, but tidy.
Lots of hiking trails nearby.
