new to the tribe and hoping you can help. I'm trying to plan my first trip of the year for Memorial Weekend. does anyone know what backcountry conditions are like now in the Desolation Wilderness area? I'm also considering the Mono Lake area or maybe north a bit around Bowman Lake. What can i expect snow-wise?

Wed, May 14, 2008 - 11:56 AMWell I have been in Hawaii for the last few weeks, but from my drive home, I'd say still snow on northern slopes and clear on southern slopes. A mixed bag typical for this time of year, if not less snow than normal.
